Manifesto

If you've ever argued over who gets the bigger side of the bed, discovered a mysterious trail of hair turning your hardwood floor into an accidental carpet, or waged war over the eternal up-or-down toilet seat debate - this poster series is made for you!

Because cohabitation is full of tiny battles... and the best way to win is to laugh first.

Everyday Poster Series - Anatomy of the first year living with your partner

Defining the User Flow

Defining the User Flow

The first year of living together is a comedic rollercoaster - from toothpaste cap standoffs to sock pileups and passive-aggressive fridge notes. It's a time when small quirks become epic sagas, and everyday routines turn into shared punchlines.

This poster series offers a lighthearted guide to the chaos, helping couples not just survive cohabitation but laugh their way through it.

Research

A poster series is defined by the visual and conceptual links that tie each piece together. Consistency in typeface, colour palette, style, and layout creates a unified identity. While individual posters may differ in how content and elements are placed, a shared visual hierarchy and repetition of key colours ensure cohesion across the series.

The concept of the “Everyday Poster” is rooted in the idea that no task is too mundane to be celebrated. Whether it’s taking out the trash or negotiating shared closet space, even the most trivial activities are elevated, reframed as moments worthy of attention, humour, and design.

Our primary audience was international students searching for off-campus housing (figure 2). Their key concerns centred around ease of search, credibility of listings, and a stress-free decision-making process (figure 3).

Design Strategy

The theme of this poster series centres on the idea of “Anatomy”.

The theme of this poster series centres on the idea of “Anatomy”.

The theme of this poster series centres on the idea of “Anatomy”.

This series dissects the everyday challenges couples face in their first year of living together, breaking them down to their most essential parts. Each poster deconstructs a common cohabitation conflict, showcasing its components, function, and suggested “proper use” with a tongue-in-cheek, educational tone.

The design strategy uses neutral colours, textured graphics, and a vintage, archival aesthetic to frame these posters as informative tools - almost like diagrams from an old textbook. This visual language positions the mundane as meaningful, blending humour with instructional clarity.

The goal : to offer lighthearted, “scientific” insight into the shared chaos of domestic life - one anatomical breakdown at a time.
