Overview

The goal of this project was to visually communicate the distinctive qualities of the Baskerville typeface - to highlight its unique voice and showcase its physical characteristics through a printed type specimen.

If you've ever argued over who gets the bigger side of the bed, discovered a mysterious trail of hair turning your hardwood floor into an accidental carpet, or waged war over the eternal up-or-down toilet seat debate - this poster series is made for you!

Because cohabitation is full of tiny battles... and the best way to win is to laugh first.

Design iterations

Drawing inspiration from Baskerville’s era, I developed two designs that blend a vintage aesthetic with a modern touch. My goal was to emphasize Baskerville’s classic, trustworthy qualities while showcasing its unique role as a bridge between eras and styles.

Our primary audience was international students searching for off-campus housing (figure 2). Their key concerns centred around ease of search, credibility of listings, and a stress-free decision-making process (figure 3).

I explored dissecting the Baskerville typeface (figure 1, right), but chose my original design (figure 1, left) for its more balanced composition and layout. Still, I integrated elements of the dissection concept into the final piece to add depth and interest.
